Throat Cancer Symptoms

When it comes to your health, it is very important that you should be on a lookout for signs and symptoms of illnesses that may be serious or life threatening. This gives you the opportunity to nip it at the bud before it even progresses into anything serious. The worst thing that can happen after you ignore symptoms is to discover that you have malignant throat cancer that you could have prevented with early intervention.

Throat cancer is a condition which affects the pharynx tissues. Initially, the disease begins at the larynx. The malignant cells spread throughout the various organs – the lips, tongue and mouth. Often, the primary cause of this terminal illness is excessive tobacco and alcohol consumption. People who are addicted to alcohol and nicotine are at higher risks of developing throat cancer. People whose work requires constant exposure to sunlight, asbestos, coal and diesel emissions are at high risk too, so they should be conscious of throat cancer symptoms.

The symptoms of throat cancer vary from one person to another; although most people experiences the same general but early symptoms. However, the symptoms are typical complaints for many types of diseases, so it is difficult to recognize those symptoms as exclusive throat cancer symptoms.

There should be concern for throat cancer when these fairly common symptoms occur repeatedly or are chronically persistent. It is very important that the person suffering from these chronic symptoms seek medical attention. These common symptoms include:

• Severe and chronic ear pain
• Severe and chronic sore throat
• Face numbness
• Difficulty speaking
• Chronic hoarse voice
• Enlarged lymph nodes
• Difficulty swallowing and pain with swallowing
• Mouth or tongue sores

There are symptoms that exhibit themselves when the condition is serious. Chronic throat cancer symptoms include breathing difficulty, complete loss of voice, face and skin deformities and severe pain with swallowing.
