Sinus Infection Symptoms

Many people suffer from sinus infection. This is one of the most common nasal problems shared by many people all over the world. This is triggered by swelling of the nasal cavities or sinuses. The swelling causes breathing difficulties which result to all sorts of physical discomforts like fever and headache. This condition is known as sinusitis.

The sinus infection symptoms vary depending on the sinus affected. Regardless of the location of the infection, however, pain will always be present. The pain is localized in areas near the sinuses affected. Since there are actually four sinuses, the pain may be intense over the eyes if the frontal sinuses are affected.

You’d probably feel more pain inside your cheekbones if your maxillary sinuses are affected. With sphenoid sinus infection, the pain is intense over the nose’s upper region and behind the eyes. If the ethmoid sinuses are affected, the pain is localized largely between your eyes and behind the nose’s bridge.
Aside from pain, there are other sinus infection symptoms.

These symptoms include:

• Severe headaches especially during the morning
• Ear or neck pain
• Pain localized in the jaw and cheeks
• Toothache, on rare occasions
• Eyelid swelling
• Pain between the eyes
• Stuffy nose
• Nose tenderness
• Nasal discharge
• Absence of the sense of smell
• Low grade fever which is fairly common among children sufferers
• Fatigue
• Weakness
• Runny nose
• Severe cough
• Upset stomach
• Bad breath


It is not actually very easy to cure the symptoms of sinusitis or to treat sinusitis. However, you can actually prevent its occurrence. Make sure that you clean your nasal passage properly. This will prevent the occurrence of nasal pain. You can use a humidifier or a nasal spray
