Mononucleosis

Understanding the Causes and Symptoms

Common Cause of Mononucleosis Natural Relief from Mono Symptoms

Infectious mononucleosis, which is commonly referred to as mono, is often difficult to notice because its symptoms are very similar to those of other diseases and infections like sore throat, tonsillitis, and other diseases that are caused by viruses. Mono affects more children and teens than adults, but in which case, it could be experienced by everyone.

Some other symptoms of mono include sore throat, fever, anorexia, enlarged lymph nodes, and fatigue. In children, doctors also diagnose mono when the patient has an enlarged spleen, liver, and arthralgia, or the pain in the joints without swelling or arthritis. Jaundice and enlarged lymph nodes are also some manifestations of infectious mononucleosis.

Although most symptoms of mono disappear fast and are usually mild, there are some long term effects that could exist for many months. But those who have strong immune systems could recover within two to four weeks. One of the long term symptoms of mono includes fatigue. In rare cases, it could take years before excessive fatigue stops. This is why even if people do not have anymore other symptoms of mono, recovery is slow because of fatigue or the constant feeling of being tired.
