Glandular Fever
There is an increasing number of contagious diseases in the world today. They may be caused by viruses and bacteria, which are usually transmitted by physical contact, through the air, or even through personal things that people use such as eating utensils, towels, and others.
One such disease that can be transferred by physical contact is glandular fever, which is caused by a strain called the Epstein-Barr virus. This disease is usually found in young people, particularly teenagers. It is transferred through the saliva, which is why it is popularly called the kissing disease. The virus could also be passed through sneezing and coughing. This condition is sometimes referred to as infectious mononucleosis. The virus causing this infection belongs to the family of the herpes viruses. Some of its symptoms do not appear fast, and some instances, they are not apparent at all.
Glandular fever has a lot of symptoms. These symptoms are often overlooked as they are also associated with common ailments. A patient with glandular fever manifests sore throat, sore lymph glands, flu symptoms, fatigue, and swollen eyes. Most of the time also, it causes swelling of the tonsils that some doctors mistake it for tonsillitis. Moreover, symptoms of glandular fever are often light and disappear quickly. However, if symptoms become severe, it is best to go to a doctor immediately and seek the appropriate treatment.
