Glandular Fever Treatments

Some doctors recognize glandular fever by the symptoms alone. However, because it has a lot of manifestations that are similar to other diseases, it is best to have a blood test to verify it immediately.

There is no specific treatment for glandular fever. Certainly, because it is a viral infection, antibiotics are not recommended. The only exception for this is if you have other infections such as tonsillitis. Paracetamol is recommended during the treatment because it alleviates the soreness of the throat and also brings the body temperature back to normal.

Drinking a lot of fluid will also help especially drinking citrus drinks. Some people also do aspirin gargles, which are done by gargling water mixed with dissolved aspirin, but this is done by people who are 16 years old and above.
Using the treatments above will usually take a person only 2 to 4 weeks to recover. But before starting the treatment for glandular fever, remember to consult your doctor first. Currently, a vaccine for the Epstein-Barr virus is being examined, though no clinical trials have been performed yet.
